Three Kia Models Top Their Segments in a J.D. Power Study
Recently, Kia Motors America announced that the Niro, Soul and Cadenza all finished on top of their respective segments in the J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Awards. The Niro took first among Small SUVs, Soul took the Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle category and Cadenza won the Large Car segment. Kia was the only non-premium brand to land three segment wins, and finished in a tie with two premium brands.
In a press release, Orth Hedrick, Vice President, Product Planning, Kia Motors America, stated, “Customers always want cars they’re proud to own and Kia earning three J.D. Power APEAL awards reflects the global focus we have placed on ensuring our customers come first. Buyers today have more choices than ever and are looking for vehicles that offer a superior combination of design, technology, safety, efficiency and premium amenities. The Niro, Soul and Cadenza are prime examples of these important attributes as more people discover Kia’s world-class model line every day.”
The J.D. Power APEAL Study, now in its 22nd year, measures how satisfying a vehicle is to own and drive. Results are based upon owners’ assessments of 77 vehicle attributes over 10 categories and are weighted accordingly. Owners are surveyed after 90 days of ownership, at the same time as with the company’s Initial Quality Survey. J.D. Power states that the vehicles with the most appeal have higher owner loyalty, sell faster and sell for higher prices.
